Daffodils at Sunset

Fields of daffodils were showing up in my social media. Spring was finally here, and I really wanted to go see them for myself. Scott and I couldn’t get away in the upcoming weekend, so we were thinking of making an evening of it. We saw a window of good weather in the forecast, so we decided to make a run for it.

We were fortunate to miss the worst of rush hour traffic through Seattle and arrived in Mount Vernon in time to grab a quick dinner. And of course, coffee.

The sure way to see the flowers is to pay the admittance fee to one of the tulip farms in the area such as Roozen Gaard, or Tulip Town. These gardens are beautiful and well worth the fee. They have large parking lots, restrooms, and even snacks for sale.

On this trip we decided to drive around to see what we could see from the road.

The fields vary from year to year. Sometimes daffodils or tulips may be seen from the road. Some years they can’t. Also, you need to pay attention to parking signs. You may park on the side of the road in some places, but many places have parking restrictions.

We lucked out and found a large field of daffodils right by the road that also had parking available. We pulled over and got out with our cameras. The sun would be setting soon, and we looked forward to watching the sunset.

We watched as the sun turned the sky orange and made the flowers even more golden. I love the light of golden hour! We drank our coffee and took lots of pictures until the light was gone. Eventually it became too dark for photographs, and we called it a night.

Not a bad way to spend an evening!
