Looking for a Little Green on a Gray Day.
The month of January is especially known for gray where we live. The dark clouds and rain can really weigh you down if you let them. It can be hard to go anywhere or do anything. To get past this we go in search of green. Green moss, green ferns, and green grass. With all the rain it isn’t hard to find.
Sometimes we explore well-known parks like Point Defiance. Sometimes we wander around on the Forest Roads. Where we live, moss and ferns can even be found in our back yard.
So, we made a plan to explore the forest roads even though it was pouring down rain. Sometimes you can see lots of waterfalls when the weather is especially wet. We packed our lunch, grabbed our boots, and despite the heavy gray, headed out.
We enjoyed the soggy scenery looking from the windows of the truck as we drove around. We saw lots of trees, ferns, and moss. Just what we were after. After a while we saw this stream and had to stop. The rain was just letting up and of course we had to get out to take pictures.
As often happens, I completely lost track of time as I began to photograph the scene. I look at it from this side and that side. From up here and down there. At some point the rain came back, and After a few moments the rain came back, and by the time we made it back into the truck we were drenched!
We turned on the seat heaters and drove to a nearby park with a view to eat our lunch as we dried out. Thank goodness for the hot coffee in the thermos. After lunch we did a little more exploring before heading home.
On to the next adventure!
