Overwhelmed With Christmas Joy
School events, church events, community events, and family events. Christmas shopping, Christmas baking, and Christmas decorating. The Christmas season is full of events, gatherings and “to do’s”. Most are things I love and look forward to all year. Some are not.
I can’t wait to get a Christmas tree with our family. For me it’s the kickoff for the whole season. I can’t wait to decorate it, along with the rest of my house.
I can’t wait to see my granddaughters perform in the nativity ballet. They’ve been rehearsing for months, and seeing the final product is always a highlight.
I can’t wait to see Scott playing music for the Christmas play at our church. This year It even includes a song or two that he wrote.
There are many things I love about Christmas. But along with them are the other things. The ones I have to put up with such as stores, and the 3 million errands that go with the events of the season.
It’s wonderful. It’s overwhelming. I love it. At times I can’t wait for it to be over.
So, in the middle of the chaos, I try to find some quiet moments and activities to relax, recharge, and breathe. Things like sipping hot cocoa by the Christmas tree. Taking the long way home to check out the Christmas lights. Or playing Hallmark Bingo with Scott. Finding time to pause can be really hard sometimes, but I do my best.
I have so many wonderful things I’ve been blessed with. So many wonderful things to look forward to. I know that by the time Christmas arrives, I will be overwhelmed with Christmas joy.
