Apple Picking at Walters Fruit Ranch in Green Bluff

We had discovered this wonderful place in the spring that had the best peach iced tea. Made with fresh peaches from their orchard, it was absolutely delicious! We sampled several varieties of peaches to determine our favorite and then bought some to take home with us. I observed that they also had a large apple orchard and thought a return visit in the fall might be in order. The place; Walters Fruit Ranch in Green Bluff Washington near Spokane.

Green Bluff has several small farms with u pick opportunities and activities for families. In addition to peaches, there are cherries, berries, sunflowers, pumpkins, apples, and more. Each in their own season. Some places sell cider, and some offer snacks and lunch options. We were in Spokane one early fall weekend and decided to check out apple picking season.

Scott found a moment to play his guitar

I love apples. Especially fresh, crisp, juicy ones that haven’t had time to get soft and mushy. I wasn’t sure what varieties would be available this weekend, but I hoped to come home with a box of crunchy goodness.

There was a small fee to get into the orchard and we were told where the different varieties were located. We arrived early to avoid the crowd - we wanted to get some pictures. So, we took our time with that. When one of the employees spied what we were doing, she suggested a couple of areas that she thought would be especially photo worthy. It proved to be a great tip.

Photographs out of the way, we got down to picking some apples for ourselves. We quickly filled a box and after purchasing, loaded it into the car.

By then it was lunchtime, and with several food booths set up we had a few options. The highlight was the apple cider doughnuts. They were delicious!

There were kids and families everywhere having a great time. We hung around for a while just relaxing and enjoying the fun family atmosphere.

On to the next adventure.
