Doing the Cascade loop - Chelan and the Trip Home
Another day to adventure! We were ready to move further along the Cascade Loop.
Scott had seen a new National Forrest Road (#37) on a map and wanted to check it out. I was looking forward to seeing the orchards near Wenatchee and Chelan.
We headed out, stopping at Boulder Creek Falls to take a few pictures. More wild flowers AND a waterfall! The road looked like it was in good shape so we decided to continue on to the town of Conconully on the other side. Who knows what we might see on the way!
Boulder Creek Falls
Twenty minutes up the road we found a mountain view. Yes! Another 15 minutes and we encountered………snow. As in Nope. Not happening. We’re turning around.
Sometimes you try a new road and find something great, and sometimes not.
So we headed back toward Winthrop and a more direct route home. We couldn’t resist one little side road though and discovered a great view of Pearrygin Lake and the Methow Valley off of Bear Creek Road.
Approaching Chelan we begin to see the Orchards and vineyards I was looking forward to. It’s too early for ripe fruit so the fruit stands aren’t in full swing yet. We headed for Wenatchee and spent the night in the heart of apple country,
In the morning we head for the mountain passes and home. But first…..
Peshastin, Washington
We took one more detour near Cle Elum to check out Cle Elum Lake before heading over Snoqualmie Pass. We headed toward the lake, found a place to park and saw a trail that looked interesting. We walk a few feet and wouldn’t you know it….more wildflowers!
Eventually we did find the lake. It looks like a great place to explore on another trip.
By this time – finally – we are tired and ready to go home.
Pearrygin Lake, Methow Valley Washington
There’s a road near Peshastin with a great place to view the orchards and we headed for the spot to take a look. The owner of the Orchard (Scott talks to everyone!) told us about his orchard and invited us to wander around to find the best spots for pictures.
