Finding Hidden Gems

Twin falls Campground

I love it when we are out exploring and stumble upon a hidden gem. This summer we’ve found a few. A new mountain view, a meadow of wildflowers, a new waterfall. It’s one of the things that keeps us going out there and exploring. You never know what you will find.

One gem we found when we were exploring the area around Takhlakh Lake. This is a gorgeous area with forests, ferns, and occasional views of Mount Adams. We were exploring the dirt roads, when we saw a campground called Twin Falls Campground and decided to check it out.

Paradise River Falls

We took a short walk upstream hoping to find that the campground was appropriately named. We’re also hoping to see more than a little trickle of water.  It didn’t take long before we saw it. A double waterfall surrounded by lush green vegetation. It was beautiful!

Another gem we found when we were visiting Mount Rainier. We’ve been up there so many times, and it was wonderful to discover something completely new. We’ve seen upper Paradise falls from the road many times, but what we didn’t know is that if you cross the road there is a trail that takes you to another, larger waterfall below.

Paradise River Falls

This one took our breath away. I don’t know how we have missed this one all these years! We stayed for a long time taking it all in and attempting to capture it in our photos. I think this will become a regular stop when we’re on the mountain.

Off to the next adventure.
