Where Can I Watch the Moonrise?

Where are we going to watch the moonrise this year?

Every spring and summer when we can expect better weather, I begin to look for great places to view the full moon rise. We’ve found a few great places but this one we keep coming back to.

We are fortunate to live near so many gorgeous views. This place on Ruston Way is one we visit very often. It’s a favorite for sunrises, early morning and afternoon walks, and for meeting up with friends. And while this viewpoint is opposite the sunset, it’s one of my favorite places to be when the sun sets because I love how that last hour lights up the mountain. It’s kind of a no brainer then, that it would be our go-to place to watch the full moon rise from behind the mountain as the sun sets on the other side of the sky.

Also, since it’s so near where we live it requires almost no planning on our part.

1.      Check for the location of the moonrise here or other places online. https://www.timeanddate.com/moon/usa/tacoma

2.      Look outside to see if the sky is clear

3.      Get some coffee brewing to take with us (probably decaf since it’s evening).

4.      Make sure the fold up chairs are already in the car (they usually live there throughout spring and summer).

5.      Grab our camera gear (it’s always ready to go).

Do you have a favorite place to watch the moon? I’d love to hear about it!
